Welcome to Space for Positive Body Image
Space for Positive Body Image provides information and support for adolescents and young adults experiencing issues with body image and self-esteem, with an aim to prevent the development of eating disorders.
The programme consists of six modules that you can complete in your own time and at your own pace over the course of six to eight weeks. Each module contains text, video and audio clips as well as activities and quizzes that you can complete as you go along. You will be assigned an online supporter who will review your progress each week. This supporter will be an SCS clinical team member.
The Student Counselling Service is committed to ongoing monitoring and evaluation of our services. By participating in the programme, you agree for your data to be used for research purposes, in order to evaluate the programme. This data includes your screening questionnaire, feedback questionnaire and usage statistics, but does not include any of the personal information you input into the programme.
How do I take part?
To apply you will have to complete an online screening questionnaire.
The aim of this screening questionnaire is to ensure the programme is suitable for you and offer a baseline measure for the purposes of the research.
When you have completed the programme you will be asked to complete another online questionnaire, the same as the one you completed at the beginning. The purpose of this is to see if the programme has benefitted you. We will also seek feedback regarding your experience of the programme through an online questionnaire.
Your participation in this programme is confidential, meaning it will not be disclosed to any third party, nor will it appear on your student record. You will have a confidential client file at the Student Counselling Service.
Please note that your support person is bound by professional ethics which dictate that if any information you provide causes immediate and serious concerns for your safety or the safety of others, the supporter is required to take whatever action necessary to ensure the safety of you and others
Any information collected for research purposes may be used later in reports or articles. All the information used in such publications will be entirely anonymous and will simply involve summaries of numbers and possibly sample quotes. We will never use personal information in any publications related to this research.
